“I had a facial and I wasn’t used to getting them. It was right before I filmed the video for ‘Umbrella.’ They gave me this peel – [the facialist] was like, ‘Oh yeah, you should do a peel,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, yeah, of course, I’ll do a peel.’ I didn’t have any idea what it was. My skin was so sensitive and irritated, and when I went to do the video, the makeup started to burn me so badly. It started to really, really, really burn. We just had to blow it and fan it. It burned until it couldn’t burn anymore.”

YOU have an amazing figure. How do you stay in shape?
A lot of hard work and a lot of running on the treadmill. Cardio is the key. I have a personal trainer who travels with me if we have a big event coming up. I work out every day but I need a trainer to motivate me – I don’t find it much fun working out on my own.

What do you like about your body?
My bum, and I keep working at it as I want it to be perfect. It makes my clothes look good – and guys like it!

When Rihanna strides into a Los Angeles hotel restaurant, the 20-year-old singing sensation looks totally glamorous in a Roberto Cavalli leopard-print wrap that flutters sexily behind her. But that air of sophistication evaporates when she slides into the booth and dives into her Cosmo interview. “Watch out-I love to prank people,” she warns, playfully narrowing her piercing green eyes. Then she launches into a story about how the night before, she squeezed a few drops of lemon juice into her best friend’s mouth while she was sleeping. “You should have seen her face when she woke up and tasted it!” says Rihanna, clearly delighted with her mischievous trick.
