It stayed at No1 for 10 weeks last year and had millions of people singing along to the chorus “umbrella, ella, ella”.

It was even blamed for the miserable weather after one of the wettest summers on record while it was at the top spot.

Researcher Onepoll.com said: “Umbrella was the hit everyone loved to hate. We loved it at first but it was annoying the 100th time.

“Even worse, while it was number one it seemed to be raining constantly.”
