This was a little bit of an awkward sight on Melrose on Aug. 21, as singers and lovers Rihanna and Chris Brown went shopping. This wasn’t your run of the mill outing like other celebs partake in, but these two kept their distance from each other the entire time, physically and emotionally.

The two were on their cellphones texting, we believe to each other, and even shopped in the same store, but never came close to contact. These two know how to play the publicity game well; they’re not just going to let some pap make bank on a picture of them together. A very smart couple, indeed.

Dozens of female artists are joining together for a good cause. Mariah Carey , Beyonce , Mary J. Blige , Rihanna , Fergie , Sheryl Crow , Miley Cyrus , Melissa Etheridge , Ashanti , Natasha Bedingfield , Keyshia Cole , Ciara , Leona Lewis , LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood have all collaborated for one song that will be making quite an impact on the airwaves September 2nd.

The song is called Just Stand Up, and the proceeds from iTunes sales will benefit cancer research.

The song was created by LA Reid, and produced with Babyface.

The ladies will take the stage at the highly anticipated “Stand Up To Cancer” television special, which will be an hour-long fundraiser featuring celebs like Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong, Scarlett Johansson, and Charlize Theron.
