Rihanna Fans React to Russian Roulette Artwork

The wait is over and the fans have spoken. Rihanna’s new single, “Russian Roulette,” made its way to radio today and the cover art made its way to the Internet.

The single sleeve centers on a photo of Rihanna, wearing very little clothing and many restraints. The singer is entangled in what looks to be barbed wire, sporting a cut-out eye patch while her right arm is suspended by a chain.

MTV News ventured into Times Square to ask fans about their first impressions of the risqué album art. While many liked the image and thought it was “cool,” most fans seem to think there may be a hidden underlying meaning.

“Personally, I think it looks a little uncomfortable,” commented Richard, 21, from Portland. “Given the recent things with Chris Brown, [there might be] an implicit message in there.” Other fans also thought that the photo may have deeper meaning.

“I think that one of the problems that people are already having with it is that her incident with Chris Brown,” fan Paul, 25, theorized. “Nobody wants to see her in … a dominated [position]. They want to see her as an independent woman.”

Kevin, 25, appreciated the photo. “I think she’s wonderful — Rihanna’s very talented.”

Fans thought the sound of the single was a bit dark too. “It’s different. She’s always coming with something new and interesting,” Gregory told MTV News. “It’s slower than her other songs. I liked it. There was something that caught me off guard a little bit when she said, ‘Pull the trigger.’ ”

Im not sure if the producers, Ne-yo and Harmony were smokin or drinkin when they plotted this mess. This song is so negative, I don’t see how someone could want to be associated with it. I have worked with individuals in psychiatric institutions and I feel like this song could easily increase a persons desire to do something harmful or even fatal to themselves. Someone has got to speak up I mean we are intitled to our own opinion but Rihanna and her people have the power to reach millions with the hateful message, Im only saying this because suicide is a serious issue, and im sure this was not her intent but she really needs to understand the inpact of this song on her fans mentation.

The cover fits the “new” Rihanna. The staments she made on her websites and through the press says the album is going to be a toataly different. Similar to Disturbia. Russian Roulete has that felling. The cover has a good image of the abuse side, from what happened to Rihanna earlier this year! :-D

i loved the song the piano, the guitar rifts, it sounds like a bond movie getting ready to start dark ,hunting and full of emotions and clues that if you listen you know what she is singing about, you have to visualize a dark back street late night, and thoughs of love, betryal and abuse. and the harmony, melody, the mood and the tempo they did a good job on this the writing and the singing is epic.
