Rihanna and Chris Brown, two of the world’s most popular pop R&B acts, are coming to New Zealand for two shows in October.
Both artists have hits in this week’s New Zealand top 40 singles chart - Rihanna’s ‘Disturbia’ is at No. 1 and Brown’s ‘Take You Down’ is at No. 15. Rihanna’s smash hit ‘Umbrella’ was also the No. 1 single in New Zealand for the year 2007.
Grammy Award winning Rihanna was catapulted to fame in 2005 with her debut album Music of the Sun. She has since been taken under the wing of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and released a further two albums - A Girl Like Me and Good Girl Gone Bad. In just three years, Rihanna has had a total of 11 top 40 hits in the US charts, including ‘Take a Bow’, ‘Hate That I Love You’ and ‘SOS’.
Brown is credited as the first ever male artist to have his debut single, ‘Run It!’, top America’s Billboard Hot 100 chart. He has an enormous amount of awards and nominations to his name, platinum album sales and single success with hits such as ‘Forever’, ‘With You’ and ‘Wall to Wall’.
Although they have been rumored to be a couple for a year now, neither Brown nor Rihanna have confirmed their relationship.
The duo are playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Monday, October 27 and Wellington’s TSB Arena on Wednesday, October 29.
