R+B star Rihanna is setting her sights on a foray into acting – in a bid to expand her international appeal.
The 20-year-old singer’s hits are a staple on some of Hollywood’s biggest soundtracks, but she admits she would like to grace the screen herself.
And she insists she is unfazed by the stigma of becoming a singer-turned-actress.
She says, “I don’t know how good I’ll be at it, but it’s something that I want to try.”
The Umbrella hitmaker is reportedly set to star in upcoming film Mama Black Widow – the story of a black family’s migration from the South in the U.S. in the 1930s. The film, currently in pre-production, is said to co-star Kerry Washington, Mos Def and Macy Gray.

Rihanna is all set to make pop chart history in America on Thursday when she becomes the female artist with the biggest jump to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Her Take a Bow is expected to rocket to the top of the singles chart from a lowly 53, thanks to a whopping 267,000 digital download sales.

The song’s jump is the second-best leap to the top, trailing only Rihanna’s duet partners Maroon 5 who scored a number one with Makes Me Wonder a year ago after a 63-position hike from 64.

Rihanna’s collaboration with Maroon 5 on If I Never See Your Face Again is expected to be one of the new charts highest debuts when the official countdown is released.

It’s not everyday that an artist has an opportunity to takeover New York’s Madison Square Garden. On Tuesday, Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D, Rihanna and the “No. 1 human in music” — aka Kanye West — rocked MSG during the New York stop of the Glow in the Dark tour.

In an effort to make sure Mr. West doesn’t spazz on us, we at the BoomBox decided to steer clear of saying anything that would anger the “Great One,” even though we’re a little disappointed that the rap star never actually glowed in the dark during the 60 minute set … but I digress. Instead, we decided to mention Rihanna’s hot performance and new partner in crime Chris Brown.

When given the special privilege to jam at the Garden, Rihanna decided she would wrap up her set with her biggest hit and one of the hottest songs of 2007, ‘Umbrella,’ while pulling a Jayonce (Jay-Z and Beyonce’s names combined) and bringing out her “friend” Chris Brown. RiRi and Chris Breezy’s underwhelming ‘Cinderella/Umbrella’ performance will surely spark even more rumors of the pair’s alleged secret romance, but one thing’s for sure … the two are definitely one of the hottest “we’re not really dating” couples of the year.

Actor Shia Labeouf was ridiculed by his close pals after he was alleged to be romantically linked to R&B star Rihanna.
The Transformers star, 21, was reported to be dating the Bajan beauty last summer (07) after they were spotted having an intimate dinner together in Beverly Hills.
But LaBeouf instantly denied the rumored relationship, insisting he hardly knew the singer.
And he admits his pals would constantly tease him about the alleged romance by singing her hit song Umbrella, even after he dismissed the rumors.

He tells the June (08) edition of magazine, “My friends were like, ‘Are you serious, bro? Why didn’t you tell me about that?’ I was like, ‘I really don’t know her like that.’ “For weeks they were singing that Umbrella song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!”
