Rihanna, Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle

Feelings of excitement, cameras and the odd glow stick from fans were waiting to greet Rihanna as she strolled on stage and coolly rocked the roof off (well nearly did) the Metro Radio Arena last night.

For those who don? ? !” t know, Rihanna is the pop princess whose song Umbrella survived three months at the top of the UK singles chart over the summer, winning her millions of fans throughout the country.

Her catchy beats and excellent lyrics are what make her shine against the competition, although the fact that she? ? !” s gorgeous can? ? !” t hurt much either.

Opening with Pon De Replay from her second album A Girl Like Me, Rihanna strutted across the stage scantily clad in a skintight leather top and hot pants, no doubt catching and holding the gaze ? ? myself included ? ? of her many red blooded admirers.

She moved perfectly in time with the rhythm of the song, and made the notes she was belting out with perfection sound natural.

Next came favourite SOS which had those around me screaming and waving their glow sticks wildly in the air. Again Rihanna posed and pouted, sexy as ever, all over the stage while continuing to sing.

Mid-song she danced with her two male backing dancers while the strobe lights bounced around the arena ? ? getting all her fans revved up.

Revved up they were and one costume change later came the excellent Shut Up And Drive from her latest album Good Girl Gone Bad.

Admittedly many knew it was coming but no-one cared and as soon as she lifted the mic to her mouth the crowd began to roar euphorically, nodding along as Rihanna danced over and on her backing dancers ? ? creating the illusion of being in a car garage on stage.

She went on to perform Unfaithful amongst others, as well as her latest chart topper Hate That I Love You ? ? which was fantastic ? ? and throughout the song she frequently shouted: ? ? S Newcastle, you? ? !” re amazing.? ? ?

Rihanna was later lowered on stage to perform her final song which fittingly was Umbrella. Her performance of this song was unbelievable ? ? and many fans danced with their umbrellas in hand.

Her vocals on this song were superb and at times the emotion in her voice could be heard echoing around the arena.

After such a brilliant performance it won? ? !” t be long until her fans are putting out an SOS for Rihanna to return to the North East.
