Rihanna dons PVC for Metro Radio Arena gig

Anyone walking into the Metro Radio Arena late on Thursday night could have been forgiven for thinking they’d walked into a strip club.
But it wasn’t a strip night in Newcastle, it was teenage pop sensation Rihanna in the skimpiest black PVC outfit in existence.

The chart-topper wowed the audience with an energetic show after being forced to cancel three earlier gigs due to ill health.

The 19-year-old star made a dramatic entrance with Mr DJ wearing a PVC stripper-style outfit - to live up to the Good Girl Gone Bad album name - and made a further two costume changes into similarly skimpy and risque outfits - one even including a whip, as
she launched into a fantastic rendition of Shut Up and Drive.

The youngster sang a string of funky hits such as Unfaithful, Kisses Don’t Lie and the Soft Cell’s Tainted Love-inspired SOS.

In bondage-inspired heels Rihanna played a song from one of her favourtire artists - Bob Marley, with Is This Love.

Her new single Hate That I Love You was beautifully performed and well received by the young crowd, and the perils of fame were highlighted in Question Existing.

A highlight of the night was an interesting metal dance that involved four dancers wearing metal sandwich boards which they then played a tune on with metal fingered gloves.

Inevitably, the starlet signalled the end of the show with a fantastic performance of the smash-hit Umbrella, that saw the arena become awash with waving brollies.
